Chile de Árbol Salsa

The Kitchen

Make chile de árbol salsa with me. Spoon it over eggs, tostadas, or straight from the spoon — you cannot go wrong.

Ingredients

  • 8 tomatillos
  • 5 dried chiles de árbol, stemmed and deseeded
  • 3 large Roma tomatoes
  • ¼ onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Cilantro
  • Salt

Method

  1. Boil the tomatillos, chiles, and tomatoes in filtered water for 10–15 minutes, until the tomato skins begin to slip.
  2. To a blender, add the onion, garlic, drained chiles, and 2–3 tbsp of the boiling liquid, and blend.
  3. Add the tomatillos, peeled tomatoes, cilantro, and a good pinch of salt, then pulse a few times. Buen provecho.
